New Year…New Life

Happy New Year’s Everyone!
Wow … this week between Christmas and New Year’s has been a lifesaver for me. We’ve enjoyed some sweet family time and even knocked a few household projects that have been long overdue. Throughout it all I’ve had some time o prayerfully consider what the Lord has for us in 2010 and I would have to say that I’m more excited about this new year than I’ve ever been about any year of ministry! For one, we’ll be breaking ground on some exciting developments to our ministry. This just very well could be a year of incredible end time’s developments, and we want to be prepared and ready to be vessels fit for the Master’s use.
So check out this Horizon New Year’s Weekend Video Introduction…
This weekend we kick things off with a Worship service combining both
“CELEBRATION & ANTICIPATION” as we say good reddens to 09 and new beginnings to the brand new 2010 decade. I don’t think there is a more appropriate way to do that than by celebrating communion.
I can’t WAIT to celebrate that this Sunday as we hit the New Year in full stride. The sermon will challenge you to leave some things behind in 2009 and grab hold of all the Lord has in store for the New Year. Don’t miss it! Have a Safe and Happy New Year and we’ll see you this weekend.

This weekend we kick things off with a Worship service combining both “CELEBRATION & ANTICIPATION” as we say good reddens to 09 and new beginnings to the brand new 2010 decade. I don’t think there is a more appropriate way to do that than by celebrating communion. Let me ask you, what are you hoping to leave behind in 2009? And what are you hoping God for in the new year? Often times it’s true, we have not because we ask not … and we ask not because we believe not as we should. So let’s change that! Let’s believe God for great things this year. Let’s raise the bar and lift the lid on our faith and trust in Him who is more than able to do more than we could even “conceive.”

  • Happy New Year from The Powells: Jeff, Amy, Aaron, Brandon, Kristin and Tamara. Twentyten!!

  • Bless you guys! Twentyten … Sounds crazy huh? To think it’s the 10th anniversary of Y2K. Will we be saying TwentyTwenty in ten years? Time is a flying bye.

  • Pastor Bob,

I was at the beach today reading Charles F. Stanley’s new book How to Reach Your Full Potential for God Never Settle for Less than His Best. A must read for anyone serious about wanting God’s Best for their lives, and have a closer walk with Him. We are not to just settle for good, because he wants the best for us. We must become totally sold out for Jesus Christ, and ask the Holy Spirit to teach us. You are so right on what you have written in this blog. I am looking forward to studying with you Pastor Bob of the best God has for His children.

  • For 2010 it seems like everyone who bogs, writes or publishes anything is making a list of resolutions, retrospective studies, admonishments, projections for the year, lists of the worst, lists of the best.Warnings of doom and gloom, projections of economic growth, projections of economic recessions, Who helped to make the world better, Who made the world more difficult. Movies; projecting the end of the world or contact with an alien race that destroys the world. Lists of historic public shame and infadelity or lists of great people who contributed to improve business and the economy. The best looking , best dressed or worst of both. List of the most Green: Cars, Buildings, Factories, Hotels, Retail Outlets, and Homes.

Sent the New Year Video to several people who needed some encoragement rather than negative retro stats. I would encorage anyone to share that video with thier family and friends and people at work. Right now everyone is publishing retro info that does not lead them to a saving knoledge of Christ. He does have a plan for us, and not to harm us!

  • Pastor Bob,

I’ve been meaning to ask you about the new movie Avatar. What do you think of it. I haven’t seen it, but I just want your opinion. Thanks. Mimi

  • Hi there Mimi,
I’m not much of a movie guy so nope I haven’t seen AVATAR. I find it stunning the expenses and profits that Avatar has rung up. Wow! Safe to say it hit a cultural nerve. Unfortunately, it delivers no realistic promise of a better life whatsoever. No wonder some viewers are experiencing signs of depression. http://tiny.cc/xnDkF

So although I haven’t seen it, I’d feel comfortable in saying I’m holding out for more than a make believe computer generated world to fill my heart with hope & joy. Now, if we could make a high quality movie about HEAVEN … that I’d pay to see and believe it would fill hearts with hope and achieve all that Avatar fails to deliver.
