How Rad is this . . .
I had the good fortune of being invited to attend a pastors conference called “Radicalis” which I learned is the Latin root word for Radical. In fact get this, the Latin word for Radical means Root. So let me share a few insights of the theme. Important, here’s why:
Radical is one of those over-used words that means all the more when it’s real meaning is understood. Literally meaning “from the root.” It conjures up an emotional picture of our true identity and what we as followers of Jesus Christ are called to be. A true Christian is one that is rooted in Christ, rooted in His word and rooted in His love. Psalm 1 is the classic scripture that tells us who we are in God.
“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
He shall be like a tree, planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.
So here are some “radical” blessings for you to claim as a result. When you have deep roots, you’ll have no problem handling the pressures of life. Second, you won’t freak out over changes that come. Third, your life promises to be fruitful. That’s some pretty cool promises given the way things are in the world right now. So get Rooted … and get Radical.
