Quick update from London … we are freezing! Ok more importantly, I have a team of seven traveling with me as we film on location a documentary I’ve had a heart to do for decades. A film that would help recapture the way preachers and congregations were visited by God in this great city! London has repeatedly been a launch pad for revival.
Charles, Spurgeon, John and Charles Wesley, George Whitefield, John Calvin, all had their roots here in London. Even lesser well known names like Alexander Maclaren whom God used to powerfully impact practically the entire city of Manchester, or Richard Baxter who for his bold stand for truth was thrown into prison in the Tower of London, are all examples that we together could learn great lessons from. The worst that could happen would be for the church to forget these mighty revivals. Forgetting would decrease the odds in repeating, and I’d much rather see us do that! Let’s bring the fire back. The same God that did it through them, is here in us today.
Indeed, London has changed. But there is still a lingering thread of amazing and powerful works that God has faithfully accomplished that has me fired up! Don’t you have a desire to dig around and recapture as much as we can of those powerful downpours of old and pray them back into our churches and culture once again?
Let’s believe God for one more powerful downpour of His grace and salvation to sweep across our land. Let’s pray together we’d bring the fire back, in Jesus name!
